2017 Ellen Gambatese Volunteer of the Year Award

We are pleased to announce that the 2017 Ellen Gambatese Volunteer of the Year Award is being awarded to

The Domotor Family

Richie Domotor, Tracey Domotor, Rich Domotor, and Heather McClain

Rich and Tracey Domotor have been married 36 years and have been lifelong residents of South Brunswick, living down the street from Mike & Sherrie. They have 3 children (Brandon, Richie, Heather) and 1 grandchild (Blake). Being friends and neighbors of Mike and Sherrie, the Domotor family has been involved with Hugs for Brady since the inception. They attended the very first Gala at The Grape Escape and have been volunteering ever since. The Domotors began by being on the committee for the first 5K and delivering flowers. And it was a family affair! For the 5K, Tracey and Heather worked registration while Rich and Richie were in charge of the water. And of course, they’re always on hand to help clean up. They have picked up flowers as well as helped deliver them, including a year ago in a bad snow storm, but they didn’t think twice! The Adult Only Kickball Tournament is Richie’s baby. It was his idea and he has organized it every year. And that is also a family affair! Rich helps man the grill, and Heather and Tracey, along with Blake, help at the registration table and make grocery runs for food. One year Richie also organized a corn hole tournament! The Brady Michael Wells Memorial Path near Mike and Sherrie is kept clean by Rich. When it’s covered with leaves in the fall, you will often see Rich walking down the path with his blower. The Domotor Family is now showing little Blake how important it is to volunteer by taking him along on a flower run, or having him at the 5K or Kickball Tournaments. By seeing his family actively volunteering now, Blake will grow up knowing the importance of volunteering for a cause you believe in, and no doubt will be a volunteer for Hugs for Brady before we know it!
