Roy G. Svenson, the 2020 Winter Gala Wagon Volunteer honoree, has shown extraordinary commitment and compassion in his support of the Brady Buggy Wagon campaign. Mr. Svenson has supported and distributed 18 Wagons in the Illinois area during the past 6 years.
A native of the Windy City, Roy worked as a retail branch manager and community banker in Chicago for 47 years, as well as at the National Security Bank of Chicago (now US Bank) and the Chicago Community Bank (now Byline Bank). He attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier (now University of Illinois Chicago-UIC) and received specialized banking training in numerous Chicago-area institutions.
Roy is a tireless advocate for community service and is currently the Vice President & Director of the M. R. Bauer Foundation in Chicago, Secretary & Director of the Kickapoo Mud Creek Nature Conservancy in Oregon, IL, and volunteers at the Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg, IL.
Previously, Roy was President and Board Chair of Erie Family Health Center for 18 years, Secretary and Board Member of the Near South Planning Board for 9 years, and the President of the South Loop Referral Group for 10 years; all organizations are in Chicago.
Roy has been married 47 years to his beautiful wife and partner Gerri. They have 2 exceptional sons and a grandson who is the light of their lives.
