by Michael Wells I just got home from the hospital and unfortunately not much has changed. Brady continues to spike temperatures and continues to recover quickly once given some Tylenol. Still no cause for the temperatures as blood work testing continues. He will be in the hospital tomorrow and most likely for another night. He needs to be fever free for at least a 24 hour period before they will release him. Sherrie is keeping “things” under control but the stress of this situation is evident. She is without peer when it comes to being a great Mother and Brady is truly blessed to have her as his Mama. RJW Hospital continues to display its human side of incompetence as today their latest stunt was to actually lose part of Brady’s blood work. Just how a technician can draw blood, label the 3 -5 vials and then misplace half of the samples is just beyond reality. Yesterday, when we got to the ER and I asked one of the 3 security officers standing at the desk if one of them could park my car, I was told they don’t park cars. After I reminded them that Mr. Jones (RJW CEO) told me differently I was asked “who are you to Mr. Jones”? Nice welcoming committee! While the team in the Pediatric Hematology / Oncology unit is truly outstanding the rest of this place is at times a sad excuse for a hospital. Well, enough complaining for one night, until next time prayers, hugs and good thoughts are always welcomed.“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
