by Michael WellsHappy Father’s Day
I am one of the luckiest dads in the world. I have 3 wonderful children and I am very proud of each of them. Wishing each and every Dad a day which is only surpassed by that day in May a Happy Dad’s Day! After all, we do diverse just a little recognition… I like what my friend Kelly Green had to say about my particular situation; “I don’t know any other fathers of almost an 2-year old boy who GET THE OPPORTUNITY to be in a room together, JUST GUYS, for an entire day.” She is so correct; it’s been a truly wonderful experience spending so much time with Brady. I wish I could spend the same amount of time with my daughter Jenn and my son Stephen. Brady had another excellent day. His morphine level was reduced; he’s eating like a horse so the TPN will most likely be removed in a couple of days. The best news was Kari Mastro VP of Nursing stopped by today to tell me Brady’s bone marrow biopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning at 9:30am. The best news of the day! Thank you Kari, and thank you Steve Jones. Sherrie and I had a lovely dinner tonight at a local New Brunswick restaurant; Clyde’s. They are known for their martinis and they did not disappoint us. Nice place with a very eclectic menu. Sherrie went home for the night and it’s once again the “Man-Cave.” Brady’s nurse tonight is, Mary. And she is just outstanding. The entire staff of the Hematology/Oncology Unit is without a doubt excellent. They possess the unique combination of professionalism and compassion which is an extremely exceptional combination. It time for me to call it a night, so until next time; please help get Brady through his biopsy. Your prayers, hugs and good thoughts have made this a truly wonderful Father’s Day!!!“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
