September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month – Every $1 is worth $2!
September 1 – 30 September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and to help raise funds for pediatric cancer research as well as to provide direct help to pediatric cancer patients and their families, Hugs for Brady is hosting a 5K, a $5,000 fundraiser that is! Throughout the month of September via everydayhero, a peer-to-peer fundraising site, Hugs for Brady is working to raise $5,000 which will then be matched by an anonymous donor dollar for dollar donated, up to $5,000. The Hugs for Brady Foundation Pediatric Cancer Research Lab at RCINJ
The Hugs for Brady Foundation was able to do something amazing this year, and it is all thanks to you. Hugs for Brady in partnership with the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey opened The Hugs for Brady Foundation Pediatric Cancer Research Lab at RCINJ. This is the institute’s FIRST lab devoted to its Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Program. Hugs for Brady partners with New York-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital to provide sedation-free MRIs to our youngest patients. The use of MRIs as a diagnostic and follow-up tool in children is prevalent; however, to ensure an accurate scan sedation or general anesthesia is typically used to obtain motion-free imaging. How a Child Could Qualify for Social Security Benefits With Cancer
If your child has been diagnosed with cancer, he or she might be eligible for disability benefits to help offset the costs of medical care or taking time off work. The Social Security Administration (SSA) offers financial resources for people of all ages with serious illnesses or disabilities. Usually, childhood cancer will medically qualify. The most common reason children are denied benefits is due to household income. Technically Qualifying for Benefits Children under age 18 are only eligible for Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
