by Michael Wells We never did make it to the aquarium; instead we went to Great Adventure and drove through the wild animal park. Brady was not too interested in the animals but he really did like to drive my car as he sat on lap. Earlier on Thursday we stopped by Gymboree and while it was great to see Brady’s former instructor, it was just heartbreaking to see our son struggle just to move around. Nine months ago Brady was running all over the place and now he can hardly stand up; this disease has no soul! However, Brady did manage to crawl through one of the tunnels and the smile on his face will be etched in my heart forever. Today, Brady spent a few hours at the day clinic receiving platelets. Sherrie’s life long friend Kellie flew in from North Carolina and in the afternoon we all went into Princeton to this really cool shop where kids can create various types of artwork. Brady painted a masterpiece which will be framed and will hang in our home forever. Later, we stopped by a local toy shop and went shopping for tractors. Brady loves tractors of all types and now he has a few more to add to his collection. We also stopped by to visit Brady’s teachers at Kiddie Academy and that was a really an enjoyable experience. They are just the greatest group of people; they started another drive selling “Hugs for Brady” bracelets with all the profits going to the Hugs for Brady Foundation. We just are blown away with their love of our son. Before I call it a night; Jennifer (friend of Sherrie) thanks for the super delicious food. Love the sausage and peppers! The brownies are outstanding. However, Aunt Peggy’s nut rolls still rule and yes, I am sharing them with Brady but NO one else! Well, it’s time for me to try and get some sleep; so until next time – Hugs, Prayers and Good Thoughts are the glue which is holding my family together, please continue them… PS I am sorry to say; that’s one of Brady’s woof-woofs “Bunker” passed away yesterday. Tony, we will miss your puppy…“8 Years Later—Still No Cure for Pediatric Cancer” is a series of posts revisiting the journal kept by Sherrie and Michael Wells during the cancer diagnosis and treatment of their son, Brady Michael. Hopefully these entires will provide an understanding of the journey families face when dealing with these horrific diseases and of the important work the Hugs for Brady Foundation does.
